New Adult Day Health & Extended Care Support Building

Client: VA Medical Center, St. Cloud, Minnesota

Studio A Architecture and Paradigm designed an Adult Day Health and Extended Care Support Building for the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. This St. Cloud VAMC Extended Care project was designed as a new building located near the main access road. Studio A and Paradigm designed the appearance of the new facility to complement the existing architectural style of the historical hospital complex and adjacent Rehabilitation Center building. Special attention was paid to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) requirements for construction within this VAMC Campus.

Studio A and Paradigm selected the interior finishes for this building to promote a healing environment. Finish selections were based upon their compliance with LEED recommendations, durability, and ease of maintenance. The color palette was selected to soothe patient anxiety, and a primary consideration in finish selection was to help ease patient anxiety associated with institutional care.

This project included geotechnical design, surveying, landscape architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, structural engineering, and fire protection design.
