Paradigm is currently providing design services to the VA Central Iowa Health Care System (VA CIHCS) on the Des Moines campus for a major renovation of the main hospital. This renovation includes a 9,723 square foot remodel of the fifth floor, phased renovation of the 2,456 square foot Telemetry unit, and 5,022 square foot Intensive Care Unit on the third floor. The renovation also includes the installation of a new rooftop air handling unit.

In addition, the remodel will involve the second and fourth floors for mechanical, plumbing, and electrical renovations. These renovations are necessary because of the third and fifth floor remodel.

The VA CIHCS is a member of the Des Moines Medical Education Consortium, a nonprofit established in 1994. This nonprofit unites several hospitals with the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Within this consortium, the VA CIHCS offers a graduate medical education program where residents can receive training in general internal medicine, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, urology, and geriatrics. Medical students from both the University of Iowa and Des Moines University receive training at VA CIHCS.

The VA CIHCS is also a member of the VA Midwest Health Care Network. This network serves more than 440,000 veterans in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and portions of Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
